Results are considered of the experimental investigations on the engine 6ChN2l/21, propelling the power unit SA-10T2, operating under tropical conditions. The effect of temperature and relative air humidity on operating parameters of the unit and its thermal conditions is investigated. The possibility is studied of the partial compensation of the unit power loss by insreasing the permissible level of gas temperature.

Joint modelling of the operating process in the cylinder and thermo-stress conditions of the piston group parts of the «engine, using the computer

Method of definition of thermo-stress conditions in the engine piston group parts is described, using straight jont numerical solution of equations, which describe the course of the operating process in a cylinder, non-stationary thermal condition and thermo-elastisity equations. In the calculating diagram a non-stationary heat exchange and heat release caused by friction between a movable piston and a cylinder liner are considered. Calculation results and their comparison with experimental data are given.

Teshnique of definition is considered of the liquid tendency to make deposits on heat released engine parts. Results are given of experiments for studying thermal resistance of slime films, made on the medal surface because of sediment corrosion and other processes. The possibility is shown of how touse above technique for selection of more suitable liquids for engine cooling, and also for their quality control during production and operation.

Calculation of maximum efforts in springs of the engine fuel injection equipment

Operating conditions are considered of plunger springs for fuel pumps, delivery valves and nozzles. Using the wave theory of a longitudinal impact an equation was got for calculation of maximum efforts in above spring coils. The proposed calculation equation in its general form shows more exactly real conditions of fuel injection equipment spring operation, and allows to determine the maximum effort, stress and deformation, defining the spring capacity.

Effect of constructive features of the engine cooling system on protection properties of inhibitor additives

The change of the metal protection degree by inhibitors is shown, which depends on metal combination. An inhibitor is considered with good protection properties in relation to each of tested metals separately, it can be inefficient or agressive in systems of different metals and their surface relations. Therefore when selecting an inhibitor for individual type of diesel engine constructive features of its cooling system should be considered.

The limiting rotational frequency is limited by the permissible mechanical loss level, bearing loag, noise etc. and depends on the cylinder diameter. The technique is given for definition of the frequency dependence on the diameter, which is of empiric character.
