The use of mathematical methods and computers for automation of the engine development is taken under consideration, using results of the All-union scientific conference. Main trends and perspectives are described in the use of computers in order to shorten time and increase efficiency of investigations, design and experiments at diesel engine creation. Some faults in this work are shown, and also ways to avoid them are pointed out.

Some problems of operating cycle theory at conditions of deep throttling

Results are considered of calculated and experimental investigations of gas exchange, carburation and combustion process in the automobile carbureted engine at deep throttling. New coefficients of operating charge efficiency are proposed, considering its real ratios of fuel, oxygen, chemical inactive products. Techniques are given of calculated definitions of these coefficients on exhaust gas analysis and energetic heat evolution characteristics. Recommendations are offered on the operation cycle improvement and constructive elements ot feeding and mixing systems.

Investigations of the contact heat exchange between the valve and the seat in the engine cylinder cover

Results are given of experimental investigations of the nonstationary regular contact heat exchange between valves and seats in the cylinder cover, carried out both at natural tests of 4-stroke forced diesel engines on experimental test beds. From the experimental data summary standard dependences have been received, which allow to calculate limit conditions of heat exchange at simulation of temperature fields in valves and cylinder cover.
