Data are given of the thermometering of the cylinder head combustion bottom for the auxiliary marine small size diesel engine type Ch8.5/ll with the combustion chamber in the piston when operating under conditions of spiral and load curves, and at different methods of the water supply to the engine. The temperature condition of the cylinder head is analized in dependence on external factors and its effect on operation process factors.

Keywords: diesel engines. Results are given of experimental investigations and theoretical analysis of the temperature condition for the ribbed air cooled high-speed diesel engine cylinder. A differential equation is derived of the cylinder liner temperature variation at different liner sections on their area height and the coefficient of a heat release to the cooling air. As a result of solution of this equation at boundary conditions, typical for the engine cylinder liner, using some experimental results, the calculating formula is derived, which allows to determine the liner temperature at different distances from its end face. The formula use is shown for individual calculations, and results of calculations and experiments are compared.

The technique of calculation of resonanse torsional vibrations in crankshafts is considered at modernization of main marine diesel engines. This technique is based on the relative variation of disturbance and damping parameters and on the use of experimental data of the main engine, that proves the design evaluation. Results are given of the technique use for engines in service and compared with experimental data and results of calculations made by normal methods.

The method is considered of definition of the mechanical loss power for a multicylinder diesel engine at its brake and brakeless operating conditions. This method is shown on the engine 12ChN18/20, taken as an example, and recommendations are given for the practical use.

The technique is given of the mathematical planning of multifactor experiments with the dispersion-regression analysis of test results, where optimization parameters included friction losses of the engine piston group, and factors included mean effective pressure, the crankshaft speed, temperature of water and oil. The function of response is found with the numerical determination of the each factor effect on the optimization parameters.

Analysis is given of the diesel-generator set (DGU) operating conditions of autonomous power supply systems. In order to improve DGU service data the proposal is given to use the autonomous asynchronous semiconductor stage (AAPK) instead of synchronous generators, that ensures the stable current frequency at the various speed.

Data are given of calculating, analytical and statistic analysis of precision for the final treatment of piston pin working surfaces. Calculations are shown of optimum conditions for centreless piston pin grinding, providing the minimum error of the final treatment. Laws of error distribution for the working surface shape are defined after the final treatment for oval and cone deviations.

Analysis is carried out to investigate the cause of the fuel consumption increase, depending on the real load of tractor and combine diesel engines in fields and dependence of the fuel consumption on the load.
