Semi-empirical expressions are derived, defining temperature parameters of high pressure fuel pumps at transient, replacing fuels at different temperature levels in medium speed marine diesel engines. Results are given of experimental investigations, which show that two-circuit systems for heavy fuel preparation should be used. Investigations of deposits, taken from diesel engines ChN30/38 and Ch48/20 after they had operated 500 to 1000 hours on heavy fuel and fuel of L mark showed that ash deposits are formed by the soil dust, engine metal corrosion, and mainly metals of lubricating oil additives. Organic part of deposits is usually formed by sulphur and nitride compound of the fuel and lubricating oil by means of the multi-stage high temperature oxidation and forming of condensed systems from aromatic rings.

Experiments and numerical calculations, using the super-element method, prove the combined deformation of the engine cylinder cover and the upper frame plate.
