Calculation results are given of the stress-distorted state of a main power element for the tunnel type block-crankcase of a high supercharged diesel engine, of its cross post. Effect of the hydraulic resistance of heat exchangers on the engine efficiency is considered. The critical shaft speed is established, when the engine power output is maximum. It is shown that the maximum shaft speed is dependent upon the operating body features and the calculated resistance of heat exchangers. Formulas allow to predict the engine operation parameters at the speed variation and exchange of operating bodies.

A static material is given, summarized the operation experience of engine liners 6D50M on VRPO fleet «Sevryba». Methods to improve the grey cast iron as the main material for engine liners. The method to manufacture steel-cast iron bimetal engine liner D50 is described, and comparative features of liners are shown, these manufactured of a steel-cast iron bimetal made on the base of a specially developed steel and grey cast-iron SCh24-48. The improvement of the operation reliability of cylinder liners is shown to be possible, and also their longer service life when replacing the grey cast iron by the steel-cast iron bimetal.
