Investigation results are considered, concerning the multi-cylinder gasoline engine operation on seven-stroke cycle and a group of dead cylinders. It is shown that the seven-stroke cycle provides the efficiency improvement and decrease of toxicity of multi-cylinder gasoline engines.

Theoretical and experimental investigations are described of factors defining the engine effectiveness, when operating under non-steady conditions, caused by a variable load on the crankshaft. Connection is established analytically between main engine parameters: the cycle delivery by inertia moment adjusted to the crankshaft and by dynamic characteristics of the torque, which are decisive for nature and fuel consumption in non-steady conditions. Frequency torque characteristics and hour fuel consumption are given of the engine SMD-14N for the tractor TDT-55, depending on the transmission gear ratio.

Regularity is considered of the individual droplets and the fuel spray motion in dense gas, applied for conditions of the fuel spraying in diesels, the clarified calculated dependence is offered to calculate the fuel spray length in the time function.

A technique is given of calculation of the oil transmission through the clearance in the lock both for single and a pair of oil scraping rings, placed in one piston groove. It is shown that the dynamics of the oil transmission increase, when increasing the lock clearance, depends in great extent on the oil drainage from under the ring and space between rings. The clearance in the upper ring lock has a great effect on the oil transmission by the pair of oil scraping rings, placed in one piston groove. It is shown that at the coincidence of locks the oil transmission is going to increase essentially.

Calculation technique is offered of local coefficients of the cooling liquid heat release at turbulent flows, based of the coefficient connection of the resistance and the heat exchange. Calculation and operating coefficients of the heat exchange are compared on the engine 4ChN13/14.

A spaced mathematical model is developed of the system crankshaft-frame-foundation to make a quasi-static numerical calculation of deformations of the engine crankshaft and crankcase columns, carrying main bearings. Some results of such a calculation are given.

Perspectives are considered of the SARS diesel engine with a mechanical differential governor, equipped with a master electrodrive. Conditions are described to develop efficient and reliable systems, based on predetermined figures of the engine speed governing quality.

Viscous friction time TK is defined for the direct action governor in a closed tractor diesel engine SARS at idling and the governor disturbance, using the control lever. The structural circuit of the closed SARS is used, its transfer function and phase-frequency characteristic, considering the pure delay of governing. It is proved that with the increase of the external disturbance TR of the governor is decreased.

Two versions of temperature conditions of the cylinder cover bottom are considered for the engine ChN26/26, the combustion chamber is scavenged by a cylinder charge, and a natural aspirated engine, operating under conditions of the high back pressure. The bottom temperature can be effectively decreased, using a new method of the engine scavenging, this can be used for the other size engines.

Results are given of experimental investigations, using the theory of the experiment planning, offering a mathematical model, describing variation of the engine start, using the complex method of variation of low temperatures and motor oil viscosity. An arrangement developed and put into practice is described to facilitate the engine start by the complex method at low temperatures.

A technique is given and also conditions, test results of piston rings, sprayed by molybdenum nitrite, using the vacuum plasma ion method instead of the porous chrome-plating. Dependences are defined of experimental parts wear in the cylinder-piston group, comparing with standard parts on speeded-up test time. It is proved that top compression rings, sprayed by the molybdenum nitrite, are worn out four times less than chrome-plated rings, and the molybdenum consumption is 150 times less than that at the flame spraying.

Technology of the oil cleaning is described, using stationary separators, indicating optimum parameters of oil to be separated. The prime cost of the process is given, following the experience of Galle depot.
