Results of a multi-factor experiment of the piston ring limiting condition are given, and a mathematical model is offered, showing carbon monoxide fumes of the crankcase oil. The limiting condition of piston rings on economical and technical criteria is established, the possibility to increase the maximum permissible wear of the engine D-144 piston ring Joints is grounded.

Different methods and apparatus for definition of the contamination means specific surface are described, used for evaluation of the engine filter operation. Materials are shown, measured on different instruments, the comparative analysis of investigation methods and results are given. It is shown that the more precise methods are the methods of gas adsorption and air tightness at the rarefied air flow.

Problems of calculation and assignment of boundary conditions (BS) of heat exchange are considered at modelling of temperature fields in the supercharged diesel engine valve and cylinder cover. The technique for calculation of BS is given, considering main features of the heat exchange during different processes of the operating cycle. For the BS assignment at the modelling of stationary temperature fields calculation formulas are given of the adjusted heat-release coefficients and the agent temperature.

Identification of elastic parameters of the core crankshaft model.

A technique is given to define geometrical and elastic parameters of the crankshaft core model of optional profile, approximated by volumetric isoparameter finite elements. The attained adequate model can be used in quasi-static calculations of crankshafts for multi-cylinder engines. Calculations, based on the model, should be used instead of existing semi-empirical formulas, used for evaluation of torsional, axial and bending pliancy of crankshafts, but not provided for the above identity.

The possibility to solve the problem of a synthesis is considered on predetermined functions of the fuel delivery In the engine to establish reference parameters of the fuel system. The method is described to attain the regression equations, expressed in relation to considered fuel delivery parameters; these equations in their linear form are offered for the cycle delivery, residual pressure, injection time and maximum pressure in the diffuser. Numerical examples are given on how to solve the problem of the synthesis for four reference parameters.

A construction and principle lay-out of an experimental dynamic installation are described, based on the one-cylinder diesel engine 14N18/20 to investigate the aircharge motion in acylinder during the compression, fuel delivery and dynamics of the fuel spray forming at mixing, when the combustion chamber volume is variable, using the method of the speeded-up photoregistration by the apparatus SFR-2M. The function characteristic of the photoregistration is given and some investigation results are presented.
