Comparative tests of a marine auxiliary diesel engine, when a number of cylinders are dead, using different methods

Experimental results are given of how to cut off one cylinder in the engine 2Ch12.5/18, using six methods. It is shown that the more economical are methods to stop inlet and outlet valves of the dead cylinder in the closed position, and to circulate the active body within the cut-off cylinder-in the closed circuit: cylinder-exhaust manifold-inlet pipe-cylinder; and also taking into account the cut-off cylinder thermal condition, the more desirable method would be to use the re-circulation of exhaust gas to the cylinder inlet.

Influence of the phase relation between the engine unbalances on the heavy track vibro-loading

Results are given of investigations of the influence of the phase relation between residuous unbalances of the engine V8-90 on the heavy track vibro-loading, when defined that the level of vibration, caused by the residuous unbalance of rotating parts can increase the engine vibration level, caused by the tilting moment action. It is shown that depending on the shift of phases between unbalance vectors the dynamic forces on the power unit supports can vary, and the phase shifting at the engine balancing should be considered.

The influence is shown of coefficients of flexible and inertial communication on quality and quantity characteristics of torsional-axial crankshaft oscillations of a small size engine. Communicated oscillations of an experimental shaft are considered, excited by special vibrators. A numerical analysis»is given of torsional-axial oscillations, it was carried out on discrete models, using the method of continued fractions.

Technique of a partial automation of the crankshaft design and optimization of its parameters

A technique is offered to search optimum parameters of the engine crankshaft (KV); its use is described in systems of the automated engine design, developed on the base of the two-level KV design arrangement: a rational KV circuit (first step) and selection of the rational crank geometry (second step) together with methods of the mathematical programming. The main parameter composition is shown on each step of the KV design, and the strategy of the search is defined. An example of the above technique is given.

Conclusion is made of the reason to correct the locomotive characteristics.

Affect of the initial (assembling) eccentricity of connected shafts on their vibro-activity

A task is considered of the cause of creation of static and dynamic forces at the non-coaxial shaft rotation, being connected by the elastic-compensating coupling with discretion number of elastic elements. Analytical dependences are shown of given forces on constructive-variable coupling parameters. It is shown that the resulting friction force in the coupling is a disturbing force, having the shaft frequency. Practical recommendations are given of how to reduce the unfavourable influence of the connected shaft non-coaxiality on their dynamics.
