A technique is described of how to select a minimum volume and reasonable geometrical size of recuperative heat exchangers DVPT, at the stage of design, when the speed of the entropy increase in the heat exchanger chanal is minimum. Calculation of geometrical sizes of the tubular heater DVPT is given as an example, for nominal engine operating conditions. Experimental data are given, attained on the engine, having four different heat exchanger types and sizes.

Aluminium cast alloys for diesel engine cylinder heads

The reason is shown to improve the cylinder head working ability, by the increase of the alloyed silumin heat resistance. Selection of alloyed elements depends on coefficients of their diffusion in aluminium alloys. In order to increase the silumin heat resistance their alloying is recommended, using copper, nickel, magnesium, manganese. Practical recommendations are offered of how to use a number of both national and foreign heat resistant aluminium alloys as construction materials for diesel engine thermal stressed details.

Interconnection between hydraulic characteristics and construction of the flowing part of diesel engine nozzle diffusers

A value of relative injection energy consumption is shown to be defined by relationship between values of effective passage section, forming the hydraulic diffnser characteristic. Evaluation is given of recommended in literature values of these sections relation. from the energetic point of view. Results are given of the experimental investigation of diffnser characteristics, diffuser holes located differently, relative to the lock. Conclusion is given of diffusers, their hole inlet edges arranged on the locking cone, providing lower losses for throttling in the lock at low needle lift.

Improvement of effectiveness of a rotor-piston engine, due to the suction air heating

Results are considered of experimental investigations of the air heating effect at the inlet of a rotor-piston engine on its effectiveness. It is shown that the optimization of the suction air temperature provides the lower fuel consumption by 4 to 6 % of automobiles with rotor-piston engines, running under conditions typicalfor a city traffic.

Contactless method of investigation of engine vibrations

A contactless method is offered to investigate engine vibrations within the millimetre wave range. Review is described of existing contactless methods and their defects are analyzed. A diagram is given and description of an experimental installation for investigations of engine vibrations. Signal spectra are given or an engine running at different speed conditions, spectra attained by the locator and the movement pick-up. The spectrum analysis is carried out for both cases. One can come to the conclusion that the contactless method of the vibration investigations within the millimetre wave range has some advantages, comparing with other methods and can be used for studying engine vibrations.
