Effective cleaning of the motor oil is a base of the economical reliable marine engine service

Results are summarized of service oil cleaner tests. Their influence on marine supercharged diesel engine efficiency, reliability and life is shown. Data are given for combined high effective oil cleaner system and low labour cost for maintenance of engines of power output from 1 to 20 thousand kW. Possibilities of this system are considered and also its reasonable completing and optimum operating conditions. Importance of oil cleaners for fuel and oil economy and longer diesel engine life is shown.

Criteria of permissible damage of board filter elements for engine air cleaners

Investigation results are given of definition of influence of the air filter board filter element blind damage and defect area in the filter housing on its transmission coefficient and intensity of the abrasive wear of cylinder-piston group parts of the diesel engine, which Vst = 10.85 l. The use of board filter elements of low quality leads to the essential shortage of the engine life. In each case the use of board filter elements should be defined, according to the maximum permissible value e, and also defined data of board filter elements, according to the above given technique.

Results are given of test bed motorless tests of air cleaners with filter elements FES-A and FES-24, made of synthetic non-waved materials for passenger cars of low and average classes. It is shown that air cleaners with filter elements, made of synthetic materials and high porous filter boards on their dust resistance are equal, and the coefficient of the dust transmission of the first is 3 to 5 times less.

A problem is considered of the free water effect on physical-chemical features of diesel fuels and on working capacity of individual fuel equipment units of modern diesel engines,. An actual level of diesel fuel contamination is shown by mechanical ingredients and free water in tractor fuel systems. As a result of theoretical and experimental investigations of the gravitation method of the water drop precipitation in diesel fuels the use of sumps for the fuel dewatering in diesel engine fuel systems is shown to be uneffective.
