Comparative analysis of the fuel evaporation in diesel engines with different fuel mixing methods
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1985. — ¹ 8. — P. 3–7.
Key words: engines.

Selected evaporation data are calculated for diesel engines of different combustion chamber types and different fuel mixing methods, using a technique of a numerical evaluation of the fuel evaporation. The influence of constructive and condition parameters is analyzed on amount of fuel, evaporated for the period of the ignition delay. A correlation is shown between the value and the maximum combustion pressure pmax in the diesel engine.

Key words: engines.

Expressions are given to calculate a predicted speed of the abrasive wear of piston rings at their stage of design. The calculation feature is that the effect of predicted loads, conditions, fuel consumption, application, contamination of a climate zone, temperature variation of the piston ring and cylinder surface hardness on wear shall be considered. The sequence of the formula derivation is described to define the rate of wear, and an example of a numerical calculation is given. Calculation and operating values of the abrasive wear rate are compared.

Technical prediction algorithm of the air-gas cycle of a supercharged marine diesel engine
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1985. — ¹ 8. — P. 21–23.
Key words: engines.

Variation of the pressure ratio in a centrifugal supercharger is the more informative parameter to define the technical condition (contamination) of the air-gas cycle (VGT) elements of a marine diesel engine. An analysis of VGT cause and effect connections is given. A rational algorithm of the automatic definition of limiting and total VGT element contamination of a marine diesel engine is developed, based on above said analysis.

Improvement of the cylinder liner quality
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1985. — ¹ 8. — P. 30–31.
Key words: engines.

Investigation results are considered, their summary brought the knowledge that the variation of the alloyed layer depth and hardness depends on the ferrite content in the initial matrix structure and quantity of the graphite content per 1 ìì2. Induction cast iron hardening, when the initial structure was perlite-ferrite (10 to 30 % of ferrite, graphite content 50 to 90 per 1 mm2) at temperature 1025 °C and the heating rate 200 °C is shown to increase the cylinder liner wear resistance as much as twice, comparing with the hardening from the temperature 900 °C at the heating rate 150 °C/s.

A new method to provide stability of bearing bush geometrical parameters for high loaded diesel engine bearings
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1985. — ¹ 8. — P. 32–35, 48.
Key words: Engines.

A method is considered of elimination of the bearing bush sorting, related to their geometric parameter variation during acceptance tests and in practice. In order to improve the bearing bush life it is recommended to make technological residual extension stresses in the antifriction layer, these being opposite to the operation compression stresses, by means of plastic blank pressing and thermal treatment under «forced» condition at the final stage of their treatment.

Decrease of the soot separation and radiation heat release, when a diesel engine operates on a hydrogen saturated fuel
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1985. — ¹ 8. — P. 43–44.
Key words: engines.

Features of soot separation and thermal radiation in the transport diesel engine Ch13/14 are investigated when the fuel is saturated with gaseous hydrogen. Conditions of experiments and methods are described. It is shown that the diesel fuel saturation with even a small amount of hydrogen leads to the essential decrease of the exhaust gas smoke and of radiation fuel load of the cylinder-piston group details.
