Investigation results are given of an operation of a pre-chamber diesel engine with variable section of a connecting channel. The influence of constructive parameters on efficiency, toxicity and thermal stress of a supercharged diesel engine is defined. Technique is given and also results of a numerical solution of a mathematical model of a heater at the level of a differential process description both within internal and external circuits of DVPT. Distribution of temperature and thermal flows on the length of the heater pipes is defined, and also distribution of the cooling agent consumption and pressure in the heater, influenced by the crankshaft rotation.

A technique is offered to calculate dynamic characteristics of electromagnetic nozzles, used in carburettor engines with electronic-controlled fuel supply. Examples are given for main existing arrangements of national and foreign electromagnetic nozzles.

Adeveloped probability model of porous filters for internal combustion engines is described. It is shown that the close interconnection of the cleaning effectiveness (fine cleaning and full screening) and hydraulic resistance (the permeability coefficient) in these filters is available. The model proved results of experimental investigations, and a perspective method of evaluation of the porous filter operation efficiency, based on this model.

A converter structure is described for pressure measurement in the engine compression chamber with fixed volume. It can be achieved by its transfer from the primary sensitive element to the secondary element by the additional push element. It is recommended for the wide use at the engine tests.

The speed droop variation of a diesel-electrical unit from the positive to the negative is shown to decrease the fuel and air consumption and also to the lower exhaust gas emission at the partial load operation and idling. An example is given of calculation of the fuel saving, the air consumption and exhaust gas emission decrease for the diesel-electrical unit AD-20M with the diesel engine 4Ch11/13.

Problems are considered of the complex approaching to improvement of heavy dump trucks Belaz diesel-generator economy, using combined speed and output governors and fuel supply correctors on the absolute boost pressure. A governor arrangement and technique fot selection of the power control range are given, using an inductive output governor. The use of such a governor at the high altitude is proved to be reasonable.

Results are given of improvement of the piston strength of supercharged engine YaMZ modifications, casted of re-developed after-eutectic silumins AK-2IM2, 5H2, 5MO. A new technology of melting, refining and modification is being developed and used in the industry, thus improving the alloy strength and the engine life.

One of more progressive methods is described to manufacture diesel engine parts of carbonic and alloyed steels, non-ferrous metals and alloys with minimum clearances for mechanical treatment. Blanks, manufactured by the method of cold and semi-hot extrusion, are maximum approached to the ready-made part size, which minimizes the further mechanical treatment, and, respectively, decreases the metal consumption.

The calculation is given of the oil evaporation from the cylinder face, considering new conceptions for the oil distribution on the cylinder face, that is a roller is delivered by the upper piston ring, a portion of the evaporated oil is shown to be 45 % of the total oil consumption for deposits (the roller covers up to 90 %).
