An automated version is described of volumetric finite-element models of some engine parts, using isoparametric finite elements of the second order. Problems are discussed of how to minimize the input information volume and its visual control, using the computer. Installations used for this investigation are described.

Dependence of the fatigue limit variation of cast-iron by the high-frequency current on the induction hardening in combination with the running-in is investigated. It is established that the induction crankpin hardening and the shaft fillet running-in essentially improves its fatigue strength. The use of the process data when producing casted crankshafts would increase their reliability and life, and the short time of the induction hardening in combination with the article running-in, makes possible to intensify the technological cycle of these details production.

Optimization of the internal combustion engine crankshaft installation as a method to improve their operation reliability

A calculation method is offered, allowing (at the stage of the crankshaft installation in a cold frame) to consider preventively the temperature deformations of a shaft line, appearing in the operating engine, the method shows that optimization of the crankshaft installation would improve their unit reliability and increase their operation period between the maintenances, due to the maximum value of the crankshaft maneton.

Influence of the inlet channel version on the structure of the air flow turbulence in the automobile diesel engine cylinder

Results are given of a comparative electrothermoanemo-metering of turbulent flows in the engine cylinder on a modelling installation at the intermittent gas flow. A head with a vinite inlet channel, which leads to the less specific fuel consumption and exhaust smoke has the lower intensity of the speed attenuation and higher low frequency components of the pulse flow speed in the cylinder.

Lazer strengthening of piston rings

Investigation results are described of the piston ring lazer hardening. A type of radiation and treatment conditions are selected without decrease of the piston ring elasticity. It is shown that the lazer hardening leads to the increase of the microhardness of the ring cast iron 2 to 3 times, providing the operating edge strength of the lower compression rings of 0.2 mm depth. Results of speeded-up test bed tests show the method perspectives.
