Possibilities to reduce the nitrogen oxide emitted together with the exhaust gas from a high speed supercharged diesel engine while keeping the high fuel effectiveness
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1986. — ¹ 9. — P. 3–6.
Key words:
engines.
Features and interconnections are considered between the diesel engine fuel effectiveness and the nitrogen oxide emission together with the exhaust gas. The example of the engine ChN21/21 shows that by the optimization of operating conditions the nitrogen oxide emission can be reduced by 15 to 25 % without increase of the specific fuel consumption and following limits of the maximum cycle pressure.

Investigation of the medium speed diesel engine frame stiffness, using the method of finite elements
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1986. — ¹ 9. — P. 27–28.

An in-line medium speed diesel engine frame is taken as an example. The method of finite elements is used to define amplitudes of its forced low frequency oscillations. Some methods are considered to improve the frame stiffness. A frame construction is offered which can decrease its deformation two to three times, comparing with a series version at the slight increase (up to 4 or 5 %) of the specific and litre mass. It is noted that the method of finite elements allows at its design stage to develop a rational frame construction, providing the better reliability and service of the diesel engine.
