A calculation method is described of the efficiency of the marine diesel engine operating cycle. Dependences are given to facilitate calculation of main parameters of the engine operating cycle, providing the predetermined efficiency. Results are given of the check of methods for engines of various types and conditions, where the effective cycle efficiency is 0.5 to 0.53.

Speeded-up equivalent tests of industrial tractor diesel engines

A technique is explained of speeded-up tests of diesel engines for the operation without failure, based on the linear summary of damages from mode factors (gas, inertia and thermal loads). An equation system is composed, considering damages in practical use and at speeded-up tests (a mathematical model), and the value of factors of speeded-up test mode is defined, factors being equivalent on their conditioni during predetermined period of time.

Piston ring margin for tractor engines

A problem is considered of series piston ring margin for tractor engines. Calculations are given of this margin for a number of types and sizes of compression and oil scraper rings. It is shown that maximum stresses in rings (when putting the ring on the piston) do not exceed 80 % of the bending ring margin.
