Results are given of calculation-experimental investigations of the operating cycle of the single-cylinder diesel engine with the variable compression ratio and of its piston thermal-stress condition. Defined features of the heat exchange are given in the variable piston volume oil space. Summarized dependences are given to calculate heat exchange coefficients. The most stressed areas of the piston case are defined, and also evaluation of the safety factor.

Some features of the oil distribution in the internal combustion engine cylinder

An installation is described to investigate the oil distribution in the internal combustion engine cylinder, using the method of the photoluminescent analysis, and results are given of these investigations. It is established that the oil distribution process is explained by the cycle event. The curve of the dynamics of the oil accumulation on the cylinder-piston group details has three typical areas, the curve of the oil film thickness variation after the installation start has the shape of "s", and its slope to the axis of coordinates defines conditions for the cylinder-piston group lubrication at the moment immediately after the start.

Effect of turbulence on the mixture forming quality in gas engines

A method is offered to calculate the air-gas mixture quality, this mixture is made during the engine cylinder filling, using equations of the turbulent diffusion and relative medium square deviation of the gas concentration from the given one. The experimental definition of the turbulent flow in typical sections of the inlet is used to define the summary coefficient of the turbulent diffusion, being the part of these equations. Calculation results are given of the quality of the air-gas mixture forming along the engine inlet.
