// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1998. — ? 4. — P. 7–9.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The results of cogeneration economics analysis are set forth as applied to a boiler house equipped with 4 Barnaultransmash modules rated at 200 kW electric power each. Simple payback for Altai Region conditions lies within the range of 2,6-3,4 years, internal rate of return being well above 0,35 across the wide range of assumed variables. System savings are positive. The inference is drawn of viability of cogenerators based on Barnaultransmash modules as applied to Altai Region local conditions.

Simulation of knock combustion in gas diesel engine as local auto-ignition condition
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1998. — ? 4. — P. 16–18.
Keywords: diesel engines.

A mathematical model is offered of local auto-ignition process in gas diesel engine combustion chamber, which prompts detonation. The model developed allows to determine feasible (detonation-free) area in the spase of engine design parameters and combustion characteristics.

Micro doses of hydrocarbons delivered to spark plug inter-electrode recess improve air-fuel mixture combustion process
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1998. — ? 4. — P. 21–23.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The method is offered to improve combustion characteristics by injection of tiny shots of propane into spark plug inter-electrode recess (timed to the end of compression stroke). The experimental results are discussed. Analysis is carried out of influence of propane addition on combustion parameter values and stability. It is known that small quantities of propane would boost development of initial ignition domain, reduce total duration of combustion process and increase allowable air-to-fuel ratio.

Mandrelling to improve fixed joins quality
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1998. — ? 4. — P. 35–36.
Keywords: engines.

The authors investigated the process of burnishing fixed joint female part by grooved mandrel. It has been proved that it is mandrel chamfer that is responsible for forming micro serrations in the female part. A mathematical model has been developed of micro serration shaping, based on the power balance in the process of mandrel chamfer interference with the female part material. The results are applicable to computation of mandrelling process parameters for concrete parts.

Reducing noxious emissions in mid-speed marine engines
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1998. — ? 4. — P. 37–41.
Keywords: engines.

Some ways of reduction of mid-speed marine engine toxic emissions are discussed, with particular emphasize on those generated during transients. The authors have demonstrated effectiveness of automatic injection timing control, which is proved to be the most efficient method of controlling emission. Its implementation ensures reduction in contents of NOx by more than 60% and particles by 20%, without noticeably affecting transient time in ship maneuvering.
