The adjusted equations are derived of boundary condition volumetric balance, to represent fuel flow behavior at the ends of a high-pressure fuel pipe (I.e. between the fuel pump and the injector). The equations are suitable for calculation of engine fuel injection system hydrodynamics considering temperature in pressurized fuel pump plenums. The results are discussed of test targeted at identification of fuel injection characteristics and engine performance as functions of fuel temperature.

The calculation method is discussed of lube oil hydrodynamic behavior in clearances of a valve drive mechanism. The method is based on the mathematical model describing the dynamics of a valve drive mechanism. The calculation results are cited as applied to exhaust valve drive mechanism of 6ЧВН 15/16 engine. The methods and algorithms offered are shown as ensuring higher accuracy in identification of dynamic and tribological characteristics of valve drive linkade.

The test and analysis results are discussed of surface microgemetry in friction pairs as affecting friction losses. Both tests and calculations endorsed the correctness of the offered techniques for determination of friction losses in «piston ring—cylinder face» and «piston skirt— cylinder face» pairs. The way is offered for the inverse task solution, i.e. identification of such surface microgeometry characteristics as to meet specifications for maximum permissible friction losses.
