Monisoentropic compression of the working mixture into cylinder of the three-stroke ICE
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. ? 2000. ? ? 2. ? P. 9?12.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The possibility of increasing performance into the ICE cylinder is considered when the compression process in a two-stroke ICE with conventional compression is changed on compression for the three- stroke ICE with entropy rising compression. It is shown that the final compression temperature can be increased up to 2,5 or the charge mass can be increased up to 6 under the unchangeable final pressure in the cylinder, divided into two sections by the transverse partition with the hole and valve. The internal ballistics of the compress process into the ICE cylinder at isobaric throttling is analyzed.

A method of strength analysis in mirror-symmetrical 6-web crankshaft for medium-speed diesel engine
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. ? 2000. ? ? 2. ? P. 15?18.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The results are discussed of analysis and test study of bending stresses in a mirror-symmetrical 6-web crankshaft for medium-speed diesel engine. The calculations were based on a newly developed dedicated analysis method. Actual bending deformations have been measured with micro strain gauges with nominal length 1 mm, located directly on bearing fillets. A design of a mirror-symmetrical 6-web crankshaft, destined primarily for medium-speed diesel engine tupe 6D50M (6??31,8/33) coupled with type MS99-9/8 alternator, used in marine and stationary power plants. The design ensures, under certain conditions, sufficient fatique strength safety margin and high service reliability.

The method of cylinder liner thermal insulation in marine engines powering small boats
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. ? 2000. ? ? 2. ? P. 32.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The research has been carried out targeted at optimization of plasma heat insulation coating applied onto the cylinder liners of ?Kaspy-40? marine engines for small boats. Plasma coating of Zirconium oxide added with 7% of titanium as a binder is being applied in discrete (staggered) order onto water-cooled cylinder liner surface. The technology is demonstrated as improving cold start engine characteristics. It also results in lower (by 2?3%, as compared with the reference engine) fuel consumption and lower (by 1,5%) lube oil consumption. All the above results have been endorsed by tests. The parameters of the coating technology have been optimized.

// Dvigatelestroyeniye. ? 2000. ? ? 2. ? P. 37?39.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The cromatographic analysis of engine exhaust gas for individual hydrocarbons has been carried out on the engine operating on summer type fuel. 55% to 75% of the total hydrocarbons has been proved to fall into the 2-nd and the 3-nd groups, i.e. to be saturated and unsaturated ones. About 90% of the total hydrocarbons are unsaturated. Methane did not exceed 2 to 3% of the total hydrocarbons.

Evaluation of marine engine design and manufacturing technologies from the viewpoint of actual engine service conditions
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. ? 2000. ? ? 2. ? P. 42?43.
Keywords: diesel engines.

The overview is offered of various approaches to qualification of small marine engines. Based on calculations and service experience, the author recommends introduction of so-called service quality principle as an evaluation criterion of production methods' quality. The principle is based on actual service conditions of some types of small marine engines. The implementation of the above principle would contribute in lowering of production costs without sacrificing engine's quality, thus enhancing its competitiveness.
