Jubilee celebrations will be carried out in the form of Scientific Conference «Live Issues of the Development of Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines» to be held in June 2008.

This article presents further development of the method of chemical turbulent heat-mass exchange (CTHME) in internal combustion engines. The method is implemented in mathematical models and applied software descriptive of in-cylinder processes, chemical combustion kinetics, and turbulent after-burning in the space behind flame front and during the expansion phase.

The article discusses a comprehensive method whereby service life of precise kinematic pairs in fuel atomizer may be estimated. The results are demonstrated of analytical determination of worn mass of needle contact layer, as applied to various atomizers featured by car and tractor engines.

A method is described that enables determination of resource performance of cylinder liners exposed to hydraulic erosion. The curves are presented of cylinder liner erosion wear rate vs. its natural resonant frequency.

The author presents a method of multivariate statistics and stochastic theory of pattern recognition (STPR) as applied to algorithms of diagnostics of a low-speed marine engine. The article discloses the procedure of the development of algorithm of trouble-shooting in fuel injection equipment based on STPR method.

The article sites the results of comparative study of technologies targeted at emission mitigation. The study has been carried out in JSC «Kolomna Works» in order to meet current and future regulations concerning locomotive engine environmental performance.

Presented in this article are the results of simulation of air pollution with carbon oxide and nitrogen dioxide induced by car engines meeting Euro-0, -1, -2, -3 requirements, with reference to statistics of some Russian towns. It is shown that in towns with intensive traffic air pollution does not exceed normative limits, given all the road vehicles meet Euro-3 requirements.
