Development of Two-Stage Turbocharging Systems (Review of Topical Papers Presented at CIMAC-2013)
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 2013. — ¹ 4. — P. 12–24.
Keywords: Turbochargers, two-stage turbocharging systems, engineering development, controllable turbocharging, intercoolers, exhaust gas recirculation, NOx emission.

Two-stage turbocharging systems are demonstrated as an efficient means to reduce NOx emission from medium-speed marine diesel and gas engines to meet IMO Tier-3 specifications. In particular, the papers in question discuss NOx reduction systems based on EGR and Miller cycle. Newly-developed compressors and turbines boast pressure ratio as high as pê = 12 @ efficiency up to 80 %. Furthermore, several turbocharging systems from various manufacturers presented at CIMAC-2013 are described in terms of design features and parameters.
