Contraction of the piston ring lock in dependence on their material and heating degree
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1983. — ¹ 10. — P. 33–34.
Key words: engines.

A plastic deformation is considered, when heating piston rings up to 400 °C, they are made of grey cast iron with different graphite content and of steel, having a common perlite matrix and a similar chemical content (excluding carbon). A positive part of graphite is shown as a factor to resist the deformation, and thus the essential priority of cast iron over steel. The microheterogenezation of the matrix structure, made by the laminated perlite with high developed phase separation surface, essentially increases resistance of the piston ring deformation, comparing with a globulized matrix.

Effect of fretting on a premature destruction of crankshafts
// Dvigatelestroyeniye. — 1983. — ¹ 10. — P. 35.
Key words: engines.

It is defined that on the conjunction surface of the end face of the crankshaft with a flywheel in an engine of the KamAZ automobile processes of fretting take place, thus decreasing the crankshaft fatigue strength in the whole, and leading to its premature destruction. It is proved that in order to eliminate the reason of destruction a design-technological adjustment of the unit is necessary, particularly, its strengthening, and also the more wide application of the chemical and thermal treatment (nitriding).
