Control of cooling when manufacturing complicated cast iron castings

Investigation results are given of the technology of the complicated cast iron casting controlled cooling for conditions of the flow-line production. The developed method of the controlled cooling is directed to liquidate cold cracks in castings and reduce residual stresses, that allows to abolish the subsequent artificial ageing. Application of the controlled cooling contributes to the quality increase of complicated castings and at the same time to the reduction of their manufacture labour cost.

Evaluation is given of the quantity and characteristics of incombustible particles of natural fuel contaminants, responsible for abrasive wear of precise fuel equipment details, based on tests of fuel filters, made of different types of paper. It is established that the quantity of incombustible particles of natural contaminants, collected by paper porous baffle plates, having the initial nominal fine elimination from 3.2 to 14.3 mcm, and their dispersed and element compositions are actually the same. And a conclusion is given that the tested filter elements, considering protection of precise details from the abrasive wear, have the similar effectiveness. The explanation to results is given.

An effect is considered of soot forming and burning on the indicator efficiency of the engine operating cycle, through the tardiness and incompleteness of the soot burning, radiant and convective heat exchange. These processes essentially effect the indicator efficiency, defined in great extent by the tardiness of the soot burning. Possible reserves are shown to increase the indicator efficiency by the intensification of the soot burning and by the arrangement of the fuel combustion, escaping the soot forming.
